Planting,Digging,pea sticks and Chickens...

WELL....Things have been happening here....

We come back from a lovely week in Spain to visit our friends, and we though right we will get stuck into the allotment,so first thing was to manure the veg bed,I bought 4 bags of manure for £1 a bad well rotted I must say! they were from Only Foals and Horses animal sanctuary, were incidently Paul got attacked by a very grumpy looking Turkey, that will teach you not to put your hand through the bars of a turkey pen wont it? Then we went to Brookside Nursery a little further down the road to buy John Innes No3 to plant the Fig tree and the apple tree in the nature area at the bottom of the allotment.

Paul bought me my very own 2 stroke petrol strimmer for an easter present! bless him, its brilliant, strimmed the nature area in no time.

We packed up early Wednesday so we could have a look around Clitheroe auctions at the fur and feather auction, and came home with one broodie Silkie Hen and 10 tiny chicks,un beknown to Paul at the time, he was drinking his brew sat on one of the gates and I told him sheepishly "oh by the way Paul I just bid for that box of chickens"! I have named her MOLLY,she just looks like a MOLLY when I look at her,she is sooo calm and placid very friendly let's you pick her up and pick the chicks up.....So now Paul has to pull everything back a week and start making the run now, which we have been at the allotment for 9 hrs today sorting it all out.I planted Potatoes,Peas, and Parsnips, and made the most ace Pea twig frame ever! took ages and ages as every last piece of it had to be found in the woods and stipped and chopped and stuck in the ground and tied.

Potatoes went in....Maris Piper's 2nd Earlies

Then the Peas Kalvedon Wonder...

The Parnips went in too then the Chicken run was starting to take shape...

My old bench from the backyard,we took it up to the plot and stained it,came up a treat it's now in the nature area at the bottom facing the sun.

More Soon....
